To Answer Your Question, Grasshopper…

Hi Josh!!

I fondly remember receiving #332 and happy to say it has followed me on my travels and inspired much conversation.
Could you say a bit more about the piece? I’m particularly curious about the constellation-like image in it.
I love it by the way. I was drawn to it immediately, both as a farmer and as someone who has struggled through my share of mental health issues, and for whom stages of growth resonate.
Thanks so much!
Best wishes,

Hey Eliza! (Grasshopper)…

Thanks for writing to me….This painting is actually very near and dear to my heart.  It was painted long ago…maybe 2006.  It has been in a few art shows but for the most part it has been in my house as part of my personal collection.  In 2005, my father passed away due to cancer.  It was a very rough time for me.  And one of the ways that I coped with it was to make this painting.  I grew up on a farm in Ohio.  We have that farm connection….anyway.  When he died it forced me to think a lot about the stages of life and growing.  I am sure that is where the plants come from.  The constellation is of ‘Cancer’.  In the end of my dad’s life he worked as a groundskeeper/landscaper and loved being outside working with his hands.  I miss him dearly.  He never made it to Burning Man, but I am SURE he would have loved it.  And he would have loved my project.  Every year I write his name on the Temple and take some time to think about him.  I am glad that you like this piece!  I love it!  Thanks for giving it a good home.  Thank you for being part of the Gift Prolific.  Take care.  Hope to see you again one day.  -Joshy.
