So Kevin taps me on the shoulder…”Dude are you working tomorrow?” he asks. “Yeah but only till noon….why?” I know why but I ask anyway. “I got a ticket for the game if you want it. It is a 1 o’clock start time.” he says. “Hell yeah!” I exclaim. This exchange has happened many times in my store. In fact, I think Kevin has gifted me at least 20 Giants games over the course of the last 2 years. Today is a little bit different….Today, I am buying him some beers! I rush over to the main desk and buy a Ten Dollar Gift Card. I give it to him and tell him that it isn’t much but the next time he is in he should get some beers on me. He likes it…we shake hands. Our beautiful relationship blossoms.
Kevin never expected anything in return for his gift. And that is part of the beauty here. He just did it out of sheer abundance. Giving for the sake of giving. He could sell me that seat….23 bucks each time. But instead he gives it to me. Theresa and I have split a majority of these games. We have even gifted a couple of them away. But each time I remember just how cool it is that someone does this for me. Right on Kev!….Take care.
