“My daughter is at home right now in labor! And I am here buying groceries….I am a complete mess. I mean who has their baby at home anyway!?!” Says my customer in a panic. I ask her a few questions about the baby….and about her stress level. She will make it I think….she just needs to breathe, trust, keep busy…..and have a chocolate bar. ON ME! I slip one into her bag. Only this time I don’t even tell her. I just casually slide it in there between her eggs and strawberries. Hopefully she will find it and not be able to resist it. And hopefully the dark chocolate will calm her down….so she can be Grandma! After she leaves I pay for the candy bar. Chocolate really does make this whole project work!
This one was a little bit harder than I thought. I thought of drawing out more cocoa beans or the candy bar itself. But then I started thinking about the stress we all carry with us. We are all carrying mountains at times. I feel the stresses of my life constantly pushing the hairs on my arms around….urging me to act or to be complacent. Doing things that relieve stress is very much like breathing in fresh clean air. Cooling. Calming. I hope this new Grandma gets a chance to sit for a few minutes and really enjoy the dark chocolate bar….and destress. At least a little. Take care.
