Day 226 – They Sell Coffee Right?

I am at work again….Bored.  I am in our demo kitchen serving cereal that tastes like cardboard.  Sigh.  I check the clock for the 15th time in the last 15 minutes.  As I suspected, grocery store time is moving at 1/3 of real time today.  Double sigh.  After a few more grueling minutes a mom and her 30 something daughter walk up and start talking about the cereal that I am serving.  We talk for a minute and the mom tells me that her daughter has just graduated with her PHD in social work.  She is a proud mom.  It is nice to see.  As I congratulate them both I pull out a 10 dollar gift card for Peet’s Coffee.  They are surprised….and so I tell them about the project.  They really like the idea.  We have a great exchange.  When they leave they both tell me that this really made their day.  I am glad.  That is what this is all about.  Damn I love doing this.  Maybe time will speed up now.

So in 2009, I took my mom to Burning Man for the first time.  We had a great time.  We set up our own Theme Camp.  I also painted a mural on the wall at the Center Camp Cafe.  Today’s painting is kind of like a ghost painting of the mural I made.  It was a real blast to get to make the mural.  I wish I could do it again….but I am plenty busy these days.  Anyway…I am bringing it up because coffee always makes me think of the beloved Center Camp Cafe.  It the only place in Black Rock City where you can buy something to drink.  And you certainly don’t have to do that…But it is nice to chill out in the cafe….soak up the shade and listen to a band….or just people watch.  I can’t wait.   We are nearly there now…and yeah, my mom is going back for her 3rd trip to Black Rock City this year!
