Day 190 – The Temple Builder

I need to give this gift today…I am at the store buying some food.  There is a collection on the checkout for children with disabilities.  I donate 5 bucks.  I can see people who need help in my head….I can see them getting some assistance.  i need to find a way to help more than this but time is short these days…and this will have to do for now.

Today’s painting is of David Best.  David builds enormous temples at Burning Man.  He started them in 2000.  The last few years of the festival have not been his temples….they have been very cool.  But some of his designs have been my favorite.  Unfortunately, I have skipped going to Burning Man a few times and it always seems that the years I stay home are the years that Best builds a temple.  i believe that his first Temple was built after his father passed away.  The Temple is usually a somber piece at Burning Man because David invites people to write names of people they have lost over the years on the Temple walls…it is then set on fire on Sunday night.  I have cried at quite a few Temple burns.  This year David is returning to Burning Man to build a huge Temple.  This is kind of a thank you painting.  Thank you David for creating a forum to remember all of the people we have all lost over the years.  Take care.
