Day 185 – Party In The Desert Animal Style

I am back from lunch with my friend Chavez.  We went to In N’ Out.  I brought back lunch for Paul.  He asked me to get him a ‘Grilled Cheese’ a burger with no meat, and some fries.  So I did.  I give it to him and tell him that it is my gift for the day.  Paul always teases me about Burning Man.  He likes the idea of my project…..but he hates Burning Man.  It’s ok.  Lots of people I know can’t quite figure it out.  It is hard to explain it to people, too.  Anyway…Paul enjoys his lunch and I enjoy getting a good ribbing from time to time.  It kind of keeps me grounded.

This was an easy one.  And right when I gave the gift I knew that I wanted to paint this.  It is the In N’ Out arrow logo mixed with Burning Man.  The writing on the background is a detailed map of the city at Burning Man.  My gallery will be on that map this year.  I hope everyone comes to find it and takes a painting.  I can’t wait to be there.  Sigh.  Good night.

  1. You’re so inspiring, Josh… I can imagine you there on the playa already… kicking back in a chair with your gallery. Man I wish I could have managed to go with.

I know I’m commenting on this WAY out of sync with more recent events in your life, but just wanted to say two things: I like the way you think about someone not understanding some of your world, teasing you about it, and yet you still look at that in such a positive way, saying that it keeps you grounded. Also, I particularly love that you knew immediately what your accompanying artwork would be to go with the give of the day-very creative!
Although I think I’ve missed my chance in life to ever see any of it personally, I’m grateful to be privy to your enthusiasm, your planning, your hopes and dreams, and your anticipation of this year’s Burning Man.
    XOXO
