Day 168 – San Bruno Mountain Summit

I am going hiking on San Bruno Mountain today.  It sounds way more rugged than it is.  Nonetheless I am going hiking so who cares?!  I stop at the gate where there is a kiosk to self register your vehicle for a day use pass.  The admission is 6 dollars.  I fill out the envelope.  I place 16 dollars in it and slide it into the kiosk post.  On the envelope I mark that I have made and extra donation to help keep the parks open.  California may be closing 70 State Parks this year due to poor budgeting and mismanaged funds.  (Thanks Arnold!)  But if every person in California would donate one dollar to the parks dept. all of the parks would be able to stay open.  So here goes….I hope it helps.  My hike is really great.  It is windy up here.  At the summit I am treated to one of the best views of the Bay Area I have ever seen.  I sit for a while and think about my life….my art….my project.  It has taught me so many things.  It has changed my life.  I created it.  I am the Gift Prolific.  I have a hard time wrapping my head around that everyday.  But being up here it makes a lot of sense.

This is a Munny from Kid Robot.  They are DIY vinyl toys that you can paint or draw on.  I painted this one sometime ago but tonight it just seemed to fit the gift.  So I am gonna use it.  I wrote the word ‘Gift’ on the front.  This guy makes me think of California….about hiking….about being outside more.  Let’s face it…we all could use more time outside.  One of the things I am most happy about my life…is that I get to go hiking a lot.  Walking in the woods provides such a wonderful space for me to think, and not think at the same time.  On this trip I listened to my headphones….I had a great soundtrack for hiking.  Take care.  See you later.

Hiking Soundtrack:  Red Sparrows, Pelican, and William Elliott Whitmore.

You’re very fortunate to live in such a beautiful area and have such easy access to hikes with different terrain; there are plenty of places to hike around here, but it’s all so flat, flat, flat. I do agree though that I also find the most peace when out somewhere in nature. Very nice give to slip in the extra money for your day pass; it will be a sad, sad thing if these places of beauty are no longer available for everyone to experience.
I just heard about those little DIY toys-great idea for an alternative piece for today’s give.
