Day 166 – Space Madness

Craig doesn’t look so good.  I just bought him lunch at In ‘N Out and we are headed back to work….but he is looking all pale.  Not good.  When we get back to work he starts to look even worse.  I knew something was off because he hasn’t made fun of me all day.  He comes up to me and asks me if I can drive him home.  “No problem, you lok more pale than before.” I tell him.  Maybe buying him lunch made him sick.  He did say that he wasn’t feeling all that well before we went out though.  So with clearance from our managers we hop in the van and head for his house.  He then decides he wants to go to the hospital….so that’s where we go.  Get this…..the Urgent Care center at the Hospital is closed on Sundays.  Apparently nothing urgent needs attended to on Sunday.  We spend about 45 minutes calling his insurance and other Urgent Care Centers.  No dice.  Well we did find one in Bakersfield but uhm….that’s 300 miles away!  After talking with a nurse who advised him to lay down and rest and make an appointment for his Dr. I drop him off at home.  What a crazy excursion.  Now it is kind of too late to head back to work.  But I don’t mind taking the loss (half day!)…I just wanted to help out.  Hope he gets back to normal.

This painting is of the Burning Man himself.  After the day I have had I got to meet with some members of our camp for this year’s Burning Man event.  It was nice to meet some new people….Lance an old friend is organizing most of the camp.  We have been to Burning Man several times together.  It turns out to be a good meeting and I am even more excited now to go out in the desert and give away this art.  It is going to take a lot of work….and I am stretched out right now…and busy.  but I am determined like never before.  Talk to you soon.

Boy, our health care system here in the US is in quite the sad state of affairs. Where Ed works, people don’t have primary doctors and use the ER for everything and anything. He says whole families sometimes come in, complete with packed picnic lunches and make a day of it. Most people don’t understand that the cost of all this is spread out among those who do have health insurance; very serious topic in our household.
Do you have Walgreen stores out by you? Around here, quite a few of them have walk-in clinics for non-major problems. Nice of you to offer to take him home, stay with him to try to figure out his choices.
Glad you are regaining your sense of optimism and enthusiasm for Burning Man; I truly don’t know how you manage to accomplish all that you do, but you’re right, with determination and focus, I’m sure it will all come together….
    XOXO

Yeah it is a huge problem….I don’t know if it will ever get fixed. We do have Walgreens….I didn’t think of that. Oh well. Craig sounds like he is doing much better now. Wow….Picnic in the ER….That sounds so nutty! Wow….take care.
