Day 154 – Coffee Sneak Attack

“You have to help me…..I am doing this cool art project and I really need your help to make it work today.”  I tell the Barista at Peet’s Coffee in my quiet undercover spy voice.  “Basically I want to pay for the next 2 customer’s cups of coffee.  Will ten bucks cover it?” I say….she leans in and nods.  “Should I tell them you paid for it?” she asks.  “Nah….let it be as anonymous as possible.  Just surprise some cool people.  Just make sure they aren’t cops.”  I say with a laugh.  She really likes the idea.  “You could just keep the ten bucks as a tip….so here is a tip for you for doing it.”  I say as I place a five spot in her tip jar….Hoping that she will get into the spirit and give.  “This is so cool.  You are so nice…”  I give her a card   with the Gift Prolific info on it and tell her to check it out.  She tells me that she might be able to buy 3 coffees and that she will have fun with it.  She also thanks me for making her day a little more interesting.  I leave…my lunch break is over.  Back to work.

This is a Sputnick Urchin shell.  I have wanted to paint one of these for some time now.  They are way more challenging than I thought.  I think back to the Barista at Peet’s.  I will have to go back in this week and see how it went.  I think of this as a gift to her…..since she was willing to participate she will get to have fun giving people coffee.  And I think that she really understood that….per our conversation.  It is neat to start a wave of giving….I wonder how it all went down.  Back to painting….see ya.

One Response to Day 154 – Coffee Sneak Attack

I’m not sure why, but I have yet to do a “stealth give” like your undertaking on this day-it makes me smile to think of how much your co-conspirator at the coffee shop got into it and hope that it does inspire her to make some gives of her own.

I’ve always wanted to see a Sputnik Urchin shell! JK, I’ve never even heard of it, but thank for showing me what one looks like. I’d love to interact with you in person more often, so that I could learn more about why certain things are so difficult to paint. (Don’t stop to explain it to me now, young man, you’ve got a lot to do!)

I’m not sure if we’re officially linked through 29gifts, but I just posted about a give that I’m going back to check on tomorrow too-if you have a moment, you might enjoy that one.
