Today I am helping out my friends Craig and Cassandra with some of their initial prop hunting for their movie. I am driving them to Scrap. Scrap is a fantastic place. It is like a warehouse or junk yard for artists….Materials abound. Papers, wood, old magazines, wires, plexiglass, poster, foam core, buttons, material, toys, boxes….its all discarded stuff that every artist in the bay area should know about. We have been here for about 45 minutes and we are ready to buy the treasures we have hunted down. They pay. And donate….Scrap is a non-profit. I think it is really cool that they donate. So I decide to do the same when it is my turn to pay…and I do. This is today’s gift. Simple. When I donate the lady at the counter is super appreciative. Very cool. Well that was easy.
Today’s painting is….well….a Tiki. This reminds of some of the paintings that I saw at Scrap today. I feel like I have made a lot of Tiki art over the years working for Trader Joe’s….I am so glad that I am not on the sign team anymore….although these days they don’t have to draw Tikis very often. Good for them. But I am absolutely sure Craig misses my presence at the sign desk. Take care.
