So I am sitting in a very clean tattoo shop in Morgan Hill. My friend Chavez is buying me some tattoos. She introduced me to Sam Rusk, the artist presently digging into my forearm with a mechanized needle and black ink. The tattoos I am getting are on each of my forearms. One is a symbol for the atom. And the other one, on my right arm, is an Enso. That would be a symbol that Chinese brush painters used a daily meditation. This enso happens to be one that I painted. These tattoos are something I have wanted for over a year. And I am hon0red that Chavez is giving them to me as a gift. She says that she is inspire by the project and wanted to do something nice for me. I am feeling the love. What a great gift. When Sam is all done I stretch out and check out my great new art in the mirror. I love them. Afterwards me and Chavez go get some Thai food for dinner. We catch up. It is really nice to get to sit down and talk with her. Its almost like there was never any break in a long conversation. I have always felt so comfortable with Chavez. It is a gift to just know her. I am an extremely lucky person to have so many great friends. After dinner we head back to the shop to collect Amy who was getting her tattoo touched up and pay for the tattoos that I got. I give Chavez and Sam a calendar. I was going to sell these but I wanted to show some appreciation. I had such a great time.
Today’s sketch painting is a tribute to one of my favorite artists. Blaine Fontana. Check out his stuff. These heads are drawn as a tribute to some of his heads. He is a huge influence on my art. I feel like I have learned a lot from him. He inspires me to go make art. This painting is about inspiration. Just like my friend Chavez was inspired, by my giving, to buy me some great tattoos….I am inspired by her, and the many great artists in the world. Thanks Chavez. Thanks Sam at El Toro Tattoo. Thank you readers….you really inspire me and keep me going some days.
