If there is only one thing you learn from this blog….please lord let it be the value of hydration! My friend Julia had a super nice water bottle that she used at work to keep hydrated. It was recently stolen. Sigh. Thinking ahead to Burning Man, if you don’t stay hydrated your time in the desert will be MUCH MUCH rougher. You always have to have water with you. At least that is my general rule of thumb. Anyway, back to Julia and today’s gift. She has been pretty bummed that someone would take her bottle. So today at lunch I head to my favorite local sports store and pick up a brand new bottle just like her old one. When I come back from lunch, I surprise her with the gift while she is on her register. SHE LOVES IT! She can’t believe that I would replace her bottle. She is overjoyed. I get that awesome feeling inside when you know your gift really connects. It is bliss. I am also glad she will be hydrated….
Simple gift. Effective. Simple panting. I am already plotting and planning for Burning Man. The event is held in a dry lake bed at a high altitude. The weather on the playa can be incredibly unpredictable. From 100’s in the day time to the low 50’s at night. Sometimes there can be 50-70+ mph winds which kick up some nasty dust storms. There has been rain and snow…rainbows….and hale. The one thing you can count on is that if you are not careful you could severely injure yourself there. Taking care of yourself starts with hydration. If you are hydrated chances are your headaches will be easier to deal with…your irritability will be easier for others to deal with. You will have a better experience. So drink up. I buy a new water bottle every year just for Burning Man. They usually come home cover in dust and stickers from the various camps and projects of that year. See ya there.
