Life can throw punches at us once in a while. Sometimes we can dodge these jabs and other times we can’t. Occasionally you just get beat up a little bit. You take your lumps and learn from it. Become better for it. I have a close friend who has been taking her lumps lately. I want to make her a gift. So today I am recording a video message for her. I grab the ukulele and quickly record William Elliott Whitmore’s “Take It On The Chin” in only 3 takes. It is one of my favorite songs…The lyrics read like a note from a father to his son. He talks about how life ain’t fair….things are gonna be tough….”But I’ll always be behind you son.”
“Life is a battle and that shit ain’t ever fair. But if you stay up in your saddle then you’re already halfway there. And he said stand your ground and don’t back down cause that’s the only way to win….when life throws a punch son you got to take it on the chin.”
Amy is going to really like this video. And she knows that I am always here for whatever. To help however I can. Even if it’s just to listen and be present.
This painting was a quick one. This is a horse skull. William Elliott Whitmore is a musician and a real deal horse farmer. So I thought this was a fitting tribute. I may go back and rework this one later as I really don’t have the time tonight to work more on it. But I like the roughness of it too. Have a good one.
